Yup, on further recall the Fivey Fox display name was Kuumo's.

Fuzzy's current display name, "Reconciliation and Unity are Two-Way Streets," and his previous one are closer to the editorial type I had in mind, and were in fact the inspiration for this thread.

"Remember to Tip Your Landlord," also by Dule, and Fhtagn's "Self Defense is not Murder" are of that genre as well.

I got involved in Atlasia and got elected Southern Delegate all the way back in 2017. Concurrently, in 2018 I changed my screen name from "TimTurner" to "Punxutawney Phil" together with a O-PA avatar (because that is probably the avatar the groundhog would most likely have if actually posting on the forum). Previously I was I-TX and then O-TX, corresponding to my actual state of residence. I've regularly changed my display name/screen name to reflect the Atlasian office I'm holding (whether it be Delegate, Deputy Speaker, Speaker, Governor, or National Archivist). Currently I'm simply a delegate and so it is currently “Southern Delegate Punxutawney Phil”.

The only people who actually care about inequality-in-itself are embittered communists (and obnoxious trolls such as BG-NY). The economy is not a zero-sum game, and the fact that some people have a lot of money does not mean that they "took" it from anyone, nor does it mean that anyone else is worse off for it. In fact, societies with more millionaires / billionaires are almost always better for their citizens from top to bottom.

The problem with inequality arises when average people can no longer reasonably expect to advance in society through skill or hard work. A meritocracy requires a fluid and malleable hierarchy and high social mobility. When the scions of wealthy families can live luxurious lives off the interest from their fortunes, I don't blame leftists / workers for speaking out against them. The solution to this is higher capital gains taxes, as well as a complete abolition of taxation for the lowest ~15% of earners. A system cannot by definition be efficient if it is widely perceived to be rigged.

However, I will never have a problem with obscene amounts of wealth being accumulated by people like Bezos, who unlike the Waltons, actually worked for his money. If leftists spent more time complaining about wealthy trust fund babies and less time b*tching about industrial pioneers who have immeasurably improved our economy's efficiency, I would be much more inclined to side with them.

There is one very notable inherent downside to economic inequality which you have overlooked - the concentration of economic power at the top almost inevitably leads to the concentration of political power at the top, which undermines democracy and can cause increased authoritarianism. As an example, maintaining low levels of inequality has been a major preoccupation of post-war German policymakers, as industrial barons and other economic elites played a key role in enabling Hitler’s rise to power.
