There are no words which I can say in what is likely one of the worst days ever in your entire life.

Don't handle these events well in my personal life, let alone giving advice to others.

Your world just exploded and all of the words that I could say would likely bring little comfort at this time.

I remember shortly after I met my current wife some 15 years ago and was going through a bit of down spell, she suggested that I just listen to some music whenever I was in a funk, and maybe there are certain songs which might help evoke the memories of all of the times over the years which you shared together.

Kick in the guts.... so so sorry.....

You have my sincerest condolences. There's nothing I can say that will alleviate this sort of pain. From my experience with loss, the day after is always the worst. I hope you remain strong, despite how hard it will be.

While you may not be blood relatives, perhaps you and your stepmother could live together? At least for awhile and until life calms down? I don't know your relationship with her. If it's good, you should try to find a mutually beneficial living circumstance. If that's not an option, you should look to other relatives and friends. You have suffered great losses at a young age. I truly hope you have a hand that's willing to help you.

I'm profoundly sorry to read this. My deepest condolences, Calthrina. Unfortunately there's nothing I can say or write to make this situation any better, but I wish you the best to get through this time.

I'm truly sorry for your loss, and the situation you find yourself in.

If there is anything we, or I, can say or do to help your situation, just ask. You are already in our thoughts and prayers - if you need our action, I'm here.

Given that this happened to me in the Spring [some different details], I can say that all too well that I know you are going through, and it's not pretty.

PM Box is open if you need it.

I cannot imagine how it must have felt or how you’re feeling now, Calthrina, but I will be praying for you and your family, both for your time laying your father to rest and your own personal way forward. My condolences, may he rest in peace.

Stay strong, and we all are with you.
Don't give-up on your education goals. It might be rough for a while, and your normal schedule in life will be interrupted, but keep pushing forward.
If your family and family friends can help, don't be afraid to ask them for assistance.

Today is my father's funeral. The service will begin at 11:00 am this morning, following a viewing, and he will be buried at 1:00 pm at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery here in Colorado Springs, as he was an Air Force veteran. Again, I wanted to thank those of you who posted here for the kind words.

I regret that I was only just now able to see this thread, but I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family during this incredibly difficult time. I had to speak at my grandfather’s funeral a little over a year ago, and it was not easy. You are the same age as me, and I can only imagine what it must be like to lose someone as close as your parents. Stay strong Calthrina, you strike me as very mature and I hope the silver lining from this tragedy is that you will grow stronger yet. I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

I know it's only a minor thing, but in light of this it's nice to see you still posting on Atlas in a reasonably regular way. I hope this reflects a more positive condition for yourself in the circumstances, even if there is no shame or failure in struggling.

I've tried to. My father's funeral has now concluded, and he has been interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery. I've been trying to sustain myself mentally. I took a leave of absence from my job, and will be going back this Saturday. I've also taken an "Incomplete" for the current academic semester, and will be working with my professors to finish all outstanding assignments over the next few months.

I know it can't possibly do much considering I'm just a stranger on the internet; but I just wanted to say you will completely be in my thoughts. And I'll do my best to send you some light and love; however you take that. As I've gotten older the mortality of my parents has been on my mind a lot more recently; and so this really hit home. I know it's a struggle we will all have to go through some day, and in that way I really admire your composure and strength and only hope I can be so when that day comes for me. Hope you can take it easy on yourself over the near future, and stay strong.
