I have to say that of all the candidates on that stage, Schlesinger was the only one that impressed me. He made clear points, and the look he put on Lieberman's face during his social security rebuttal was priceless.

He was the only candidate on the stage that belonged even close to the snetae.

Clearly Schlesinger.... kinda reminds me of 92 in a way. Perot clearly winning the first debate even though he was still most going to lose at that point.

Two ways to look at this.  Schlesinger clearly won the debate no doubt about it.  However you could also say that a Schlesinger's victory is really a victory for Lamont.  Yet anyone who says Lieberman won is as big of a hack as Lieberman's supporters are violent militant warmongers.

This is hilarious and explains perfectly why Lieberman was caught so off-gaurd by Schlesinger:

From Colin McEnroe's column: http://blogs.courant.com/colin_mcenroe_to_wit/2006/10/the_lasy_angry_.html

"So Lieberman's words once again reveal his underlying psychology: He fully expected to be handed his Senate seat with the unalloyed thanks of a grateful Connecticut and he remains astounded to find himself in anything resembling a real political campaign.

More intriguingly, Lieberman unintentionally disclosed another thing he believes: that the fix is in and that he doesn't have to worry about Republican opposition. He actually said it! He said he wasn't expecting an attack from the Republican side! Remember, he got a phone call from Karl Rove right after the primary. From that day until this, his campaign has been oozing Republican gravy. He gets their money, and he gets their tactical support. The only thing they have not been able to do for Joe Lieberman is find the "off" switch on Alan Schlesinger. "

Colin hits the nail on the head: Joe is shocked that Republicasn are (GASP!) attacking HIM (imagine that - a so-called Dem getting attacked by a  Republican in a debate! The horror!) and not Lamont. Who is this upstart Schlesinger anyways? Didn't he get the memo from Rove that Joe is to be treated with baby gloves by Republicans in order to defeat the real Democrat?

Lamont won on the issues and had a powerful closing statement. I wish he would relax a little more at these debates though.

Schlesinger won on style and certainly shocked the hell out of everyone with how good his performance was. He had some wonderful one-liners too.

Lieberman was absolutely terrible through most of the debate. The term "whiney bitch" comes to mind. He had that "I just got the crap smacked out of me" look on his face that Bush had in the first debate with Kerry a lot.

I don't see how Lamont came out a winner, unless u count him as a winner because Alan won.....

Want to see a poll.... I moved this race to leans lieberman after yesterday's debate.... whatever that means.

Well yeah, he is the one who really benefits from Alan doing better. Its not like Alan is going to win.

It was kind of odd that they didn't talk about Iraq at all in this debate though.
