VARepublican is my preferred choice, no doubt!

SirWoodbury would easily win a Republican primary though. However, the fact that he supported Bill Weld for a time (which I will still never understand) may cause some backlash to his candidacy.

I would hand my vote to VARepublican but SirWoodbury would probably win. VARepublican might be one of the few Republicans left who could win a statewide election.

This, though I'd argue you are grossly overestimating VAR's crossover appeal. He's better than SirWoodbury, but the days when a Republican could win in Virginia are, for the most part, gone and, no offense to VAR, but he isn't an exceptional candidate. Maybe he'd outperform Trump in the suburbs and places like Northern Virginia but he'd probably still do worse than (or at the very best, as good as) Romney. Winning would require a scandal-ridden opponent and at least a moderately good year.
