In 1980, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts is the Dem Presidential nominee.

Who is his running mate?

Ted Kennedy decides to emulate his brother, and chooses a Texas Senator as his running mate, Ralph Yarborough, despite that he was old and retired.

If Ted Kennedy won, and Birch Bayh, Frank Church, and George McGovern still lost, I'd expect them to become cabinet members.

Were thirty threads really necessary? Not just...one?

Gporter didn't even spam that bad.

Interesting topic though.

I hope this was a parody of gporter, and I hope all of these threads get deleted.

And I refuse to answer the question.

Oh, if you want a possessive, then it's just "whose," but if you want a contraction, then it's "who's."  Scallawag.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but when it's over 30 threads, it's just glaring.

I worked hard on getting all these names of potential nominees together for these various elections, serious candidates who did in fact seek their party nominations in these various campaigns.

I had an idea that it would be interesting to see, if these candidates were the Presidential nominee, who forum members thought would be a good running mate for them.

I was actually planning on covering elections 1992 through 2004 as well, but, as I am sure all will be pleased to know, have shelved this idea.

Thank you jfern for responding to one of the elections with an answer actually giving the name of a running mate.

Thank you Erc for your condescending tutorial in the english language.

I have bowed to public pressure and outrage, and have deleted the rest of the threads.

You could have just created one post for all of these instead of 30.

Like one of the posters said, it's a good topic just keep it all in one post/topic.

Around the time of the Democratic convention, there was talk that he was trying to recruit Robert Byrd as his running mate, in exchange for his support on the vote to free delegates from their pledges.
