I'm excluding shows I haven't seen at least a couple full episodes of.

SpongeBob SquarePants (only taking into account the first few seasons, I know it's gone downhill since then)
Bob's Burgers
Rick and Morty
The Simpsons
King of the Hill
Family Guy
South Park
Dora the Explorer

Spongebob's at the top because it was in its heyday when I was its target audience so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. But the only ones of these I really watch on any regular or semi-regular basis nowadays are Bob's Burgers and Rick and Morty.

The Good

1. King of the Hill [Subtle, down to earth, but still pulls off such good satire of the American way, much like The Simpsons very early seasons, except with a Texan twang]
2. Rick and Morty [The only shock value adult cartoon that's actually good and seems to have a point. Also, it's got the Meseeks]

The Meh

3.The Simpsons [The first 10 seasons and the 2006-2008 island around The Movie were good enough to elevate it here, but it's been a wasteland for 2/3 of its life.]
4. Spongebob [Like The Simpsons, elevated up by strength of the initial seasons, but even in the pits, it's still mostly just mediocre from what I can tell.]
5. Bob's Burgers [It's inoffensive and boring mostly. But the characters are memorable enough, I guess.]
6. American Dad [This one's unusually good for Seth MacFarlane, but Stan and Roger nuke a lot of goodwill away from it all, especially Roger. More Klaus, more Steve, more Francine...those are the good ones.]

The Bad

7. Beavis and Butthead [It's just not that funny after awhile...but there was something to it once.]
8. The Cleveland Show [Boring. EoS]
9. Dora the Explorer [it's written for preschoolers...and only preschoolers, what did you expect?]

The Ugly

10. Family Guy [hard to get more tasteless than this one]
11. South Park [...but these guys manage it, but at least...]

The Unremitting Horror

12. The Fairly Oddparents [...it's not from B&^ch Fartman, and it doesn't have Cosmo. Save for Danny Phantom, any Hartman show could be here, but at least most of them got canned quickly...not this show, and it has f*(king Cosmo. F*(k Cosmo so much.]

I had considered inserting in BoJack Horseman, but I hate Fairly Oddparents by so much more.

Other than The Simpsons, which it has been years since I watched it (or any non-streaming TV), I haven't watched these.

Still, I am certain none of them can compare to the ultimate Saturday morning cartoon, Hong Kong Phooey, starring the voice of the inimitable Scatman Crothers.

Dora and SpongeBob are weird inclusions here, since Dora is meant for babies and preschoolers and SpongeBob for elementary age school students. I don't really remember if I was into Dora or not, but I really liked SpongeBob as a kid.

BRTD has a weird fixation on discussing children's shows and adult shows in the same context.

Classic Simpsons (Seasons 1-9 or so) and King of the Hill are the only ones I would consider genuinely “good” and timeless TV shows, along with maybe some of South Park (although at this point I consider that more of a modern political cartoon than a regular TV show). The rest I have either not seen, because I do not fall into the target demographic, or I have seen some parts of long ago (like Family Guy and Spongebob) when I did fit the demographic but don’t feel qualified to judge now.

1. King of the Hill: More heart & humor than most live-action shows. Can't think of many other cartoons that come close.

2. Bobs Burgers: Actually, this one comes close. Liked the show so much, I bought the 3-disc deluxe soundtrack on vinyl.

3. South Park: I both find it interesting & not surprising how much this forum/board detests this show. Even compared to Family Guy. Still, way more consistent than most of the other shows on the list (King of the Hill included).

4. The Simpsons: Would be #1 if 2/3 of the shows run wasn't garbage.

5. American Dad: Deserves a lot more love & attention.

6. Spongebob Squarepants: See Simpsons.

7. Beavis and Butthead: I need to watch this more. But I've liked what I've seen. Also, the movie is great.

8. Rick and Morty: Haven't watched the new season but it's alright.

9. Family Guy: A victim of their own excess. Still, I won't change the channel it's on.

--Wide gap--

10. Dora the Explorer: Obvious joke entry is obvious.

11. The Cleveland Show: Doesn't do anything for me, laughs or otherwise. Though Ric Flair did appear on an episode so that's something.

Others that'd rank pretty high on my list: Futurama (Dora made OPs list but not this show??), The Boondocks, Rockos Modern Life, Hey Arnold, Space Ghost Coast to Coast

Rick and Morty
The Simpson's
Family Guy
Bob's Burgers
American Dad
Beavis and Butthead. It was a pretty strong at self satire by MTV during its heyday.

I will say South Park has the biggest variance among episodes from good to bad. The show was truly trailblazing and hysterical the first several seasons up through and including its full length feature movie. but in the 20+ years since then? People talk about The Simpsons being a zombie show? South Park has them beat the hell on that point. It's basically devolved into the Cartman show, not a very good one at that.

The Cleveland Show.

King of the Hill was one of most overrated shows ever. I watched the vast majority of episodes because it was on right after King of the Hill and I had TiVo back in the day. I only realised afterwards I watched it out of habit more than anything. The show rarely if ever made me chuckle, let alone laugh out loud. People could talk about it so cold subtle humor all they want, the fact is it just wasn't that funny. At all. It had the best damn time slot second banana show imaginable for which you could probably broadcast alive functioning with slaughterhouse and it would get copies of ratings running right after the Simpsons during its prime. I'm almost a little embarrassed as to the amount of time I spent watching this nothingburger.

SpongeBob SquarePants. There are many cartoons that are arguably for kids but have so so so much humor that adults can pick up on, Gravity Falls being perhaps the perfect example. SpongeBob SquarePants is just stupid. Never enjoyed watching a minute the admittedly few times I watched it just to see what the all the hullabaloo was about.

Why is Dora the Explorer even on this list? As pointed out this is a cartoon made for preschoolers and vastly different from the rest of the list. It doesnt deserve a bad rating here so much aa an N/A.

Lots of adults like SpongeBob. A lot probably grew up with it...but it's not exclusively a kids show like all good kids shows.

I included Dora the Explorer because when I watched it it was just soooooooooooo bad. Full of plot holes, Dora was incredibly annoying with the way she always talked to the screen and WHY THE F[INKS] DOES JUST SAYING "SWIPER NO SWIPING" STOP SWIPER? Awful awful show.

Maybe you felt that way because you were a teenager when that show aired its pilot episode in 1999??

The entire last season was basically The Randy Marsh Show. Very overused character.

Gravity Falls is great. Another example of a show like this is Regular Show, although it may be cheating as it was originally intended more for an adult audience (which SpongeBob apparently was, too, believe it or not.)

So as an experiment I watched a Dora episode last night while high and it was more tolerable and I giggled a bunch but I still thought it was VERY dumb. Like Dora's pet monkey had a rubber ball that fell into a volcano but the volcano erupted and he got it back! How the f[inks] does a rubber ball survive a volcanic eruption? Also Dora and the monkey crossed over lava by hopping like frogs on floating stones after seeing a frog do this...it would not work and no frog would come close, just being above lava would generate enough heat to kill you.

Also Dora must have pretty lousy parents if they allow her to travel near a volcano by herself.

This is tough because so many of these are wildly disparate in quality. I'd rather watch a good South Park episode than a bad Simpson's episode and vice versa. But in general:

Bob's Burgers
King of the Hill
Spongebob
American Dad
Rick and Morty
The Simpsons
South Park
Family Guy
Cleveland Show
Dora

Never watched Beavis and Butthead
