Which other state relies more on Pentagon defense spending than Virginia?

With the massive failures of Iraq and Afghanistan, if irate Democrats push defense spending cuts up to 10%-30%, could it cause Virginia to be a swing state again?

Variations of this question keep getting asked and no, going against defense spending would not put NOVA or VA in play.  Even in NOVA only a small percentage of people are directly tied to the defense industry and a lot of them are voting Republican anyway.  The reason VA is a fairly safe Dem state is because of (a) lots of new diverse voters, (b) stable downstate black population, (c) lots of college educated whites in NOVA who are socially liberal (and probably generally support less defense spending).  None of those 3 categories would be turned off by defense cuts.

The GOP's other problem in VA is that southwest and downstate VA keeps shrinking.  So even if the GOP made marginal improvements in NOVA it wouldn't be enough.

NOVA is not blue because of the defense industry.

God I wish defense cuts or at least restructuring was even possible. If you think simply just posturing toward this would be more than a week or two on the news, then you might have a view into a future collective delusion along the lines of the dancing plague, so my answer is yes maybe, and I’m pumped in case we care about something so boring

I actually think it would at least make it within 5 points. That would really piss off veterans in Virginia, undeniably. And veterans make up a significant amount of Virginia’s population.
