Former California Sen. Barbara Boxer, who retired in 2016 from the Senate was mugged and assaulted in Oakland, California on Monday.....

Rightwing website Free Republic makes fun of her assault and blames "soft on crime liberals" and defund the police for the act.....

Oof, yeah Oakland is a sh**thole.  Glad the 4'11" tall 79 year old wasn’t seriously hurt.

I saw this earlier. Boxer isn't the only ex-Senator who suffered a misfortune in recent days. I read also that former Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming sustained serious injuries from a bike accident. He's about the same age as Boxer.

In hindsight, Bill Clinton was the greatest president we ever had since Truman.

Easy.

Watch the 1992 and 1996 presidential debates on YouTube.  And of utmost importance, pay close attention to what the people were actually saying on the streets after each debates, and their motives for voting.  (I love archived footage)

The Bubbinator--miraculously--managed to come across as BOTH tough on crime and at the same time  spewing the usual leftist rhetoric of "the rich paying their fair share" and cutting defense spending.

I believe James Carville called that jive "triangulation".

I will always believe in a town called Hope.

And then after 1994 happened, he decided to completely ditch all of his remotely left-leaning principles and sign whatever tripe to enrich corporate interests that the GOP set on his desk. "The era of big government is over" indeed.
