Ramsay's persona is similar to Trump's, actually. His rise as a celebrity was based on him ruthlessly belittling reality show contestants and getting away with it because he's "the best" and his targets were generally quite pathetic. Trump and Ramsay are just two of many people with toxic personalities that no one would accept in any context other than reality television that have made a fortune because of it.
To be fair, Ramsay seems much more capable of stepping outside of his persona and acting comparatively normal than Trump; even just comparing his demeanor on the UK and US versions of his shows, where he's clearly playing a character much more for the boorish Americans, is evidence of this. Even though he hasn't fused with his affectations like the ex-president was known for, I still wouldn't remotely trust him to be level-headed enough in general to run a nation.
