CDC to announce new indoor masking guidelines for fully vaccinated people
Quote
In a striking move to send the country back toward pre-pandemic life, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday will ease indoor mask-wearing guidance for fully vaccinated people, allowing them to safely stop wearing masks inside in most places, according to a person briefed on the announcement.

The new guidance will still call for wearing masks in crowded indoor settings like buses, planes, hospitals, prisons and homeless shelters, but could ease restrictions for reopening workplaces, schools, and other venues - even removing the need for masks or social distancing for those who are fully vaccinated.

The CDC will also no longer recommend that fully vaccinated people wear masks outdoors in crowds. The announcement comes as the CDC and the Biden administration have faced pressure to ease restrictions on fully vaccinated people - people who are two weeks past their last required COVID-19 vaccine dose - in part to highlight the benefits of getting the shot.

Good

I hope my state is next. Better yet, ban private businesses from requiring  masks for their workers/customers

I hate wearing a mask. I'm fully vaccinated so there is no need for me to wear one yet here I am required too by both my jobs ugh

Being vaccinated you could still possibly transmit the virus ya know?
HAHAH how do you feel about the CDC removing the mask mandate!?!

Well the guy is not doing very well at balancing the costs and benefits, but then nobody is perfect. However, his gilding of the lily with the "un-American to its core," BS, moves him right into the HP category. Dude, nobody, and in particular you, owns the flag, and gets a pass for "desecrating" it like that!

McMaster has some of the worse rhetoric in the nation. When teachers were lobbying to be a priority group he called the request “unethical, immoral, absolutely unacceptable” while also pushing them to be back in classrooms

Happy? I don’t understand why you can’t get that I never wanted to wear a mask but I’m mature and willing to wear one as long as it says I need to. Im not a scientist so as long as people with the knowledge I lack tell me what to do I’ll follow.

It’s also said in that release that it’ll be up to localities to place and impose their own requirements, which I agree with as we’ve had entire schools elementary schools in the state catch coronavirus which leads to a crisis in the community. Blanket banning or requiring them at this point is not the move.

I intend to continue wearing a mask for some weeks to come when I'm out in public, despite being vaccinated. I don't see any problem with insurance.

Age, education, gender,  breakdown of attitudes toward inoculation:

10 May 2021:

Do you plan to take a coronavirus vaccine if it becomes available?

(Yes - No - Unsure - Already vaccinated)

All subgroups 09-25-05-63

Age

18-34  11-22-05-61
35-49  08-29-06-57
50-64  08-24-05-62
65++  07-15-04-74

Education

non-college   09-26-05-59
college grad  09-19-05-67
masters/prof 06-13-03-78

Gender

M 08-24-04-63
F  09-21-05-64

Political party

Dem  12-04-03-81
Rep   05-43-06-45
Ind    08-24-06-62

Ethnicity

white  07-26-05-63
black  16-11-07-66%
Hisp   13-16-04-66
other  11-20-05-64

https://civiqs.com/results/coronavirus_v...e&net=true

,,,,,Bolded figures are the stick-out stats. The best-educated people and Democrats have done well at getting the vaccine. The old have been given priority in getting inoculated or have been under pressure to do so, Republicans have a large minority (43%) that say that they are not going to get vaccinated.

Gender matters little, and by ethnicity, inoculation rates are so far indistinguishable statistically. I see more blacks and Hispanics wanting to get inoculated who have not yet... so maybe getting some mobile units to places in which such people are most likely to congregate. Churches are obvious enough.

Failing to get inoculated is... DUMB! The more that people avoid inoculation, the greater is the likelihood that COVID-19 will stick around and perhaps mutate into something more dangerous.  Inoculations save lives, and they may prevent COVID-19 from mutating into something like "COVID-22".

I would just put him on ignore. He's been on my ignore list for the better part of a year now.
