Just created this map essentially for fun. What do you think?

I'm not sure I buy it, alas. Don't know if states are decent level of aggregation for classification like this, and even if they were IMO much of New England would need to be red.

This is a dumb concept, but even by its own standards the state with Santa Fe and Taos in it shouldn't be "liberal conservatism".

Also, obligatory Fratelli Tutti quote:

Quote from: Pope Francis
In recent years, the words “populism” and “populist” have invaded the communications media and everyday conversation. As a result, they have lost whatever value they might have had, and have become another source of polarization in an already divided society. Efforts are made to classify entire peoples, groups, societies and governments as “populist” or not. Nowadays it has become impossible for someone to express a view on any subject without being categorized one way or the other, either to be unfairly discredited or to be praised to the skies.

It’s kind of a futile task trying to classify states like this, considering most people in them likely have a very limited understanding of what these ideologies are.

Pretty good, here is my map

This is good, though I'd put AZ as Libertarian and IL as Establishment Dem.

Oops, I forgot to change IL. AZ is still a center-right state, that mostly went to Biden bc of Never-Trumpers. Progressives don't do that well a state level, and AZ did not trend super far to the left.

I'd put Arizona, Georgia and Iowa as conservative and maybe consider NC and WV to populist. Massachusetts, Vermont, California and Oregon are staunch social democracies

Also Lol at the Montana populist meme
