Term-limited incumbent Gov. Jon Bel Edwards will probably be the last Louisiana Democratic governor for a while, like Earl Ray Tomblin (WV), Phil Bredesen (TN) and Steve Bullock (MT)......

Which Louisiana Democrat will win the nomination to represent the party in 2023?

Louisiana uses jungle primaries, there is no LADP nomination.

Louisiana uses jungle primaries, there is no LADP nomination.

That said, former New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu can pose a formidable challenge, not least because of the family name, and his record as mayor of the largest city in Louisiana.

I'll boldly predict an R vs R runoff

It would be better for Democrats if JBE's networks lined up behind the least offensive Republican with a chance of winning...Dardenne vs Landry?

If anything it'll probably be Mitch Landrieu at this point. Maybe Gary Chambers Jr could try for a run but I doubt he'd get very far, and if he was the "dem nominee" (since it's a jungle primary system), he'd probably only win like 3-4-5 parishes in the end.
