When Republicans actively cheat and engage in voter suppression, this does not matter one bit.

Such open contempt for our democratic institutions and processes shows that Democrats have no real stake in promulgating a rules-based, representative democracy. Crying "voter suppression" and "Russian interference" every time you come up short (looking at you, Hillary Clinton and Stacey Abrams, among others) is just as much a poison pill to the functioning of our democracy as Republican claims about mass, illicit voter fraud.
Our country is plainly divided. Despite many pundits and posters thinking he would be routed from office by 1980-like margins last year, Trump won 8 million more votes than he did in 2016. Republicans picked up seats in the House. And this in the midst of a unique domestic/economic crisis and a media environment more hellbent on sacking the incumbent president than it has ever been before
