A spokesperson for Washington's Metropolitan Police said officers responded "at approximately 12:12 pm, to the 3400 block of Massachusetts Avenue, NW in reference to a suspicious person based on an intelligence bulletin that originated from Texas, who was detained by US Secret Service." Law enforcement contacted the man after a region-wide intelligence bulletin had been issued for the suspect.

For anyone wondering what 'unregistered ammunition' is,  in DC, you may only own ammunition for a legally possessed firearm. So if you are in DC with a firearm that the District of Columbia has not specifically authorized you to have,  possession of ammunition for that firearm is also illegal and is a separate charge. Unlike most states DC does not have any sort of reciprocity laws, so the only way to legally have a firearm in DC is to get a DC permit, which is very, very difficult.
