He Chooses Harry Truman as V.P and after A few days of Grilling, he made it leading to the 1948 Election Wallace was extremely popular with Farmers due to his farm programs and Poor People due to his New deal policies and Minorities due to his civil rights act and Middle Class Workers with his veto of Taft-Hawley act. However, the party bosses were angry and this lead to the Contested 1948 Convention which Wallace Narrowly beat Richard Daley LBJ and Even John Nance Garner. Leading to the 1948 Election But who were the Opponents. Thomas Dewey Gov. of New York won the GOP with Earl Warren as Running Mate, a splinter group Known as ''Dixiecrats'' lead by Strom Thurmond a Senator from South Carolina, and Wallace won big it was no contest Wallace won the big Northern Midwest and Insturdial states and the West. While Dewey only won Northeast and Oregon.
