Fox News Website has this article saying that even Democrats are unsure about Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.  The article was dated Tuesday, July 25, 2006.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,205356,00.html

It is also saying Democrats don't have a coherent message, just a little over 3 months away from November 7.

It is a very interesting article.

Read it and lets explore what the Democrats (and Republicans) are actually thinking.

It's too early to say whether the Dems will take back the House.

If we take back the house I strongly support Pelosi's bid for speaker in Jan. 2007.  As I've said before, you dance with the girl that took you to the prom.

Even if she's an ugly bitch, and there's a real hottie calling you across the way?

We better get 219 rather than 218, because I don't want to put Gene Taylor in a sticky situation.

There could be nothing worse in America than to have Pelosi as Speaker of the House.

Yes, clearly it would be better to have Bin Laden be dictator of America, than have half of one of the branches of the federal government be controlled by Democrats.

or having half of it blown up or something.

Is there any particular REASON why Pelosi's speakership would be the worst thing ever (I don't particularly like her, but I enjoy being el avocado del Diablo).

If we win the House back, I hope to God that she doesn't get elevated to the Speaker's chair.

Is there any particular REASON why Pelosi's speakership would be the worst thing ever?

On a political note: She's too liberal to lead the Democratic Party in a major chamber of Congress.  I've said this from the beginning.  If we gain control of the House and she becomes Speaker, our majority will be gone by 2008.  I want to create a lasting Democratic majority in Congress, and the only way to do that is make keep the Democratic Party appealing to moderates and independents.  This means that we should elect someone with less liberal social views, like Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) or someone like him, as Speaker.  Having Nancy Pelosi as Speaker is definitely not the way to go.

On a personal note: I really just think she's a stupid bitch, who hardly deserves to lead the party in the House.

I'm no Pelosi fan but yes she will be a speaker and yes she will do barely an acceptable job at it but far better than any of the GOP options.  I will support her.  But I wont support Hoyer for majority leader.

And why would she be speaker instead of Majority Leader?

May God help the Democratic Party if she ever becomes Speaker of the House.  Tongue

Quite frankly i think anybody but our current Speaker would be good.  i despise Pelosi, but things might get done under her leadership.  if you look at House activity before and after Hastert's takeover, you will find that things in the House slowed down considerably after he became Speaker.  he is both incompetent and worthless.

She'd be an even worse President. But she'll never be either; by the time Democrats do win a House election, she will have lost his role as their leader.

What's your prediction for the partisan makeup of the House for the 110th Congress?

On a personal level-Nancy Pelosi is just crazy and embarrasses liberals.  She also is a backstabber and her votes are for personal political gain, not for Democratic gain.

However, a liberal leader would not bring down the party anymore than Howard Dean has as our Chairman.  The country likes hard-core conservatives (like Bush) as well as hard-core liberals.  It likes the Hard-Core because the moderates are beginning to look spineless.  I do not believe the Speaker of the House however, will influence national opinions about the Democratic Party.

I haven't broken it down exactly, but the GOP will retain control, narrowly. There aren't enough seats really in play for the Dems to take over. The GOP will have to regain ground in 2008 if they want a secure majority for the subsequent cycles.

She's WAY to liberal.  And I can't stand her smile.
