14, not 25. If the Democrats won all 14 of those, they'd still be one seat short.

Uh, you mixed up the toss-up column with the likely GOP column...

I was getting very excited, imagining that Cook had some inside information on these marginal races that would have made takeovers more likely...

15 Republican seats are now listed as tossups. If the Democrats won every single one, then they would take the House. Of course then Gene Taylor would weild enourmous power.

OMFG, I thought you were being silly until I did some research and found that in 2003 and 2005 Taylor cast a lone vote for Murtha rather than Pelosi...

Oh how I would love for Dems to win all or at least most of them. I heard that if it ends up being very, very close in the House and/or Senate, a few liberal Republicans may pull a Jeffords.

Even if we don't beat any of the CT Republicans, giving them a scare might be enough.

Tossups held by republicans
California [4] [50]
Colorado [4]
Florida [8] [9] [13] [16]
Idaho [1]
Illinois [10] [11]
Iowa [2]
Kentucky [2]
Minnesota [1]
Nevada [2]
New York [19] [25]
Texas [22]
Wyoming [AL]

Seems like a pretty conservative list of toss-up seats,
I would add the following, all of which have had a poll released in the last few months showing the Democrat leading:
CT 2
IN 2, IN 8, IN 9
NC 11
OH 18
VA 2

Hmmm, Dems certainly had a load of turncoats when they lost control in '94.  I imagine a few Gopers might switch, but many of the mod squad have already retired.

Perhaps, though, rep. Leach of Iowa would become an independant...other than that, I don't really see much potential in either the House or the Senate.
