Not dead, just in bankruptcy, which will allow them to weasel out of a lot of the debt they owe and then get back to grifting, this time in a state where the attorney general isn't going to dare to investigate them or sue them for anything.

The CURRENT Attorney General maybe....Wink

I think the chief grifters (and the vast majority of their marks) are old enough that they probably don't care that Texas will turn purple/blue in a decade or more. They don't expect to be around that long, and they don't care what happens once they're gone.

Well, Chapter 7 is liquidation, and is used primarily by companies that are not only broke, but so broken they are unable to recover. Chapter 11 is used by broke companies all the time.

Clearly, getting out of New York is a priority of theirs, but Chapter 11 is a demanding process, the NRA is a large organization, and bankruptcy professionals aren't cheap, so they wouldn't be doing this unless they felt they actually had to. They were struggling under COVID like many other organizations, and some gun manufacturers went bankrupt, so whether it was the legal cost/risk of staying in NY that tipped them over the edge or general lack of funds is kind of irrelevant.

Ken Paxton is under investigation, he could feasibly lose in 2022, if Democrats put up a good candidate. The Texas Governor race may be basically safe, but the AG and Lieutenant Governor races will be competitive.

I love the second amendment, but man, I hate the NRA.  They have long outserved their purpose as an organization.  All they're good at is eating billions of dollars and posting really dumb political takes that even most pro-2A people laugh at.  The right wing equivalent of PETA.  I hope this is the beginning of the end for them.

Actually, many people think the NRA is too soft and support even more extreme organizations, which is one of the reasons the NRA is too scared to come out in support of even the most reasonable restrictions.
