Rasmussen seriously blew the 2000 Presidential election. Battleground was also way off. While Zogby was close on this race, I think he was seriously pro-Republican on the 2000 NY Senate race.

Some do, but it's easier to favor democrats if you do a bad poll job.

1. Republicans are more likely to be rich and have things like Caller ID to avoid calls.
2. If you poll during the day, you're going to miss a lot of republicans.
3. Republicans are more likely to vote than Democrats.

These types of things tend to skew polls in the democrats' favor.

There were a lot more polls wrong in favor of Republicans than Democrats in 2000. I will admit that Zogby Interactive and the LA Times have a pro-Democrat bias, but they're really no worse than the polls that a pro-Republican bias.

Why are we talking about polling three elections ago?

some polls favor Dems such as LA Ti,mes & Zogby (though Zogby is more of a mismash than anything) others favor the GOP start Vision, Rasmussen.    Sometimes it depends on the state, NJ for example polls tend to lean more towards the GOP than the final mresult.

I don't know, but I''ve been called by pollsters a few times and they always exempt me on the first  question (Do you have any relatives working for the media?).  So the "liberal (or whatever) media bias" doesn't tend to get counted.

And there is some evidence as many young urbanites use cell phones as their only phones that they get called less.

Then you have to figure in the number of people who will treat pollsters like telemarkters and hang up on them (and if there is any sort of partisan skew to that pattern).

Obviously, especially if a Republican is paying for the poll.  However, the same holds true of most candidates spending money on private polls.
