For the moment, I will yield to my curiosity and abandon my customary aloofness towards making polls that involves me in them.

Maps are welcomed.

Probably because conservative Democrats tend to be conservative socially and economically populist, while liberal Republicans are usually socially liberal and economically conservative.

Correct.

I don't know why the media always seems to think so.

My first map!

jfern (Blue): 203
BlueDogDem (Red): 335

The race is between two Dems, so I decided jfern to be the blue one.

I expected Arizona to be to much of a libertarian state zu vote for a populist like Frodo. But you are right, they wouldn't vote for a real leftist either.

Rich Republican areas would vote for Frodo, he being obviously more Republican, including on economic issues.

What economic issues am I more 'Republican' on?  Are you referring to my support for free trade?  That's about the only economic issue on which your comments have any standing.

Your economic score definitely to the right of mine. Free trade is a good example, but Ithere are others too.  For instance, you supported Alito, who would love to strike down the New Deal.

I supported Alito's nomination because he was clearly qualified for the job he was being appointed for.  My support for judicial nominees has nothing to do with their ideology and everything to do with their qualification for the job.  In any case, this does not count as an economic issue IMO.  And yes, we can agree to disagree on whether it is or not.

If you actually give a sh**t about the New Deal, you'll feel pretty dumb if Alito gets a chance to strike down what's left of it. If you give a sh**t about the New Deal, you just cut off your nose to spite your face with you support of Alito. Some Democrat you are to support appointing justices that support Bush v. Gore, anyways.
