Looks like Trumpism is here to stay.

And that Latino and Black voters are swinging towards it.

They seem to like Trumpism on its own, and also that they dislike anything called socialist.

What does this mean for future presidential elections?

We've gone from safely having more of them in the future to probably having them in the future. That's a bigger change than it sounds.

Latino voters are emulating said voters from Latino countries, many with a rich history of fascism.

It means a Republican running on "populism' that has a working brain will probably win 400+ electoral votes in 2024.

This lays the groundwork for future Republicans doing well among Latinos. Assuming they run a populist who isn't mean and actually knows what they're doing, AZ would definitely remain in play, NV would probably be in play and NM would have a chance of a sleeper flip.

Arizona wouldn't really be in play because of hispanics, AZ whites are basically Colorado whites in 2016. Minorities merely top of the final few points for D's in AZ. AZ doesn't seem unwinnable for Rs though, Trump seems like he's gonna get within a point or 2 and the county. However the county that did swing the hardest towards Trump was Santa Cruz county in AZ. The next was Yuma.

I don't buy that this is entirely or even largely the result of Latinos disliking socialism. It may be a major factor among Cuban and Venezuelan voters, but what real beef does a 20 year old Mexican dude have with socialism that a white dude of the same age doesn't? Seems like a stretch to me. What I think is more likely is that we're seeing more and more Latinos begin to develop an identification with White America and less so with being Latino. This is the same process that the Irish, Italians, and Eastern Europeans underwent. And guess how those ethnic groups tend to vote now.

Here in Rhode Island, it was seeing Biden as too socialist, and the Latino population becoming more anti-abortion than before:

There's no actual polling or data in this article on Latino attitudes towards socialism. They just asked a Mayor for her opinion. I'm gonna need a little more evidence than that since Sanders polled very well with Latino voters in the primary.

It's too soon to make any overly confident statements about how minorities are going to vote in future cycles. Much like it was dumb to believe that Latinos were permanently on lock for the Democrats, the same holds true for the opposite view with Republicans, especially since we're only four years removed from multiple cycles of Latinos and Asians (including Cubans and Vietnamese) swings towards Democrats. Also, while I'm bullish on Trumpism remaining the prevailing the ideology of the GOP and the man himself making a repeat run in four years, we should all remember that the GOP's last spell outside the White House was basically an eight-year long civil war so, uh, who knows what's going to happen with them.

I think you need someone like Mike Huckabee or even a Rick Santorum.

I think hes on to something, actually.  Just drop the evangelicalism for mere lip service like Trump and that candidate would probably be able to win provided they were exciting enough.

Both those candidates are inherently tied to their extreme social conservativism and decidedly NOT exciting in my view, lol.

Of course Huckabee and Santorum are dead politically, but someone like them.

I think your next GOP landslide winner is going to talk a lot more like Charlie Baker or Larry Hogan than Donald Trump, and I think his or her economic views will be a lot closer to Josh Hawley's (stated views) than they are to Paul Ryan's.

These two things are not even KIND of mutually exclusive.

Are white Cuban-Americans or white Venezuelan-Americans "minorities"?

Here is a church in Colonia Tovar, Venezuela, a community of mass German settlement:

Some culinary specialties of the town:

None of this is alien to me. Just visit Frankenmuth, Michigan.
