The opposite of compliment

It needs to have an 'ie' or 'ei' per the OP, so I'm guessing 'friend' is what he was looking for. I'm guessing you were looking for insult, because a.) can't think of any ie/ei words that are the opposite of compliment, and b.) not sure if you got the part where it needs to have an 'ie' or 'ei' in it.

Clue for my word: Many politicians do this frequently, especially the far-right, as well as our 45th president. (And remember, it has an 'ie' or 'ei' in it.)
