I like how the Courts of Appeals select the Chief Justice: "In order to qualify for the office of chief judge, a judge must have been in active service on the court for at least one year, be under the age of 65, and have not previously served as chief judge. A vacancy in the office of chief judge is filled by the judge highest in seniority among the group of qualified judges. The chief judge serves for a term of seven years or until age 70, whichever occurs first. The age restrictions are waived if no members of the court would otherwise be qualified for the position. Unlike the Chief Justice of the United States, a chief judge returns to active service after the expiration of their term and does not create a vacancy on the bench by the fact of their promotion." It doesn't require an amendment to make this change, so no I wouldn't support using the amendment process as there are more important things to worry about trying to amend the Constitution.

I wouldn't push for it but if it happened I wouldn't really care that much.

Roberts is not the most senior Justice, but is the most suited to the role.

He already is the most powerful justice, repetitive and he is a republican anyways, D's wouldn't do it unless a D was CJ and that's along time from now, Roberts is still young

1. What's the point of it?

2. This change would not require amending the Constitution.

3. Right now I am not exactly chomping at the bit for Chief Justice Clarence Thomas.
