Describe someone who voted for Don Bacon in 2018 but plans to vote for Kara Eastman this November.

Someone who bought the moderate FF schtick but who would have voted D in a more nationalised race. Said person didn't see enough ads about Bacon/Trump because the DCCC failed to invest.

Their 18 vote for Bacon was probably due to him having more name recognition than her back then, whereas their vote for Eastman now is because of her having more name recognition now compared to two years ago.

I know someone who will be one of these. He was a young, new voter, and was sucked into the "happy smiley moderate" persona of Bacon, and thought Bacon was "decent" and "wanted to get things done". He later supported Bernie in the primary, very much does not like Bacon, and will probably not be voting for any Republican in the near future.

I think the unanimous opposition to impeachment among Republicans will drive away most of the split-ticket Biden/Republican voters. Eastman is campaigning heavily against Bacon's devotion to Trump.

Are you saying that voters who went for Bacon last time because they viewed him as an inoffensive moderate will turn against him because he voted not to impeach Trump? I can definitely see that happening, similar to what is driving much of the opposition to Susan Collins in Maine.

Yes, I think that's probably the case, at least enough for him to lose a couple thousand votes to Eastman. Though I'm not sure if in 2018 it was so much that voters viewed Bacon as a moderate or if they just considered him to be more moderate than Eastman. Kara definitely didn't do herself any favors by running a more Justice Democrats type of campaign last time, which is an issue that she has corrected this time around by instead focusing heavily on how Bacon is selling out America in favor of his loyalty to Trump, who is hated in Omaha. I expect her to win and I think she's definitely favored, even if the race is still a bit of a tossup.

Basically, to provide a more concise answer to the thread's question, I think a Bacon '18/Eastman '20 voter will be someone that has further soured on Trump since then and now associates the entirety of the Republican Party with him.
