I have no words for this, but because i'm not always online i didn't see this, and i would definitely have objected this decision. I think it's just unfair, impolite, unfriendly and just generally nasty behavior to take a party, literally hijacking it, because you assume there is no activity and make it ally with your own party, even when both parties have literally nothing in common. Is this really how we are going to play this game? I have no words for this, but I can tell you this. I refuse to support Jimmy in any election, and I hope Labourites, greens and peace members can make this pledge as well to refuse to vote for Jimmy, even if it was against a federalist.

This wasn't a hijacking. It's been over 10 months since any activity occurred in the thread, and with only two registered members (BG-NY and me), something had to be done to bring it back, since regional parties are now running in NPC simulated elections, and they can't do that without a leader to enter them.

I thought i was still registered, but fine apparently not. Still, in the party's foundation it is clearly stated that everyone from any party is allowed to join the PPL as it's a wide movement. You seize leadership, and throw all party principles away for an unrealistic coalition between populists and liberals. Do you even know what your party stands for, Democratic Alliance? There is nothing they have in common. If you have some decency, i urge and ask you to leave the party, disband it, and found a new party that's more in line with your and your party principles, and i'll forget what is happened, but I still think this is something you shouldn't have done.

I don't understand why you were trying to get it back, and what your plan with it is, but it was way easier to create a new local party, and i still urge you to do so. It's not your task to bring a dead party alive, because of inactivity. You weren't an active member as well, as you were a member for at least 10 months and haven't done something. The local party has no soul, it has no plan, it has no meaning. It stands for nothing and is a vehicle for your new party to lead to better election results, while it is easier to start local branches of your own party instead.

I brought the party back because I believe in its platform. I formed the coalition so NPC DA candidates who support the Populist Party platform would have a chance to be elected. I believe the DA platform and the Populist Party platform have a lot in common and will share common goals.

Additionally, I have no plan to change Section 5 of the party platform, so the party will not be endorsing real candidates in regional or federal elections.

What do DA and Populist Party exactly have in common. Would you call yourself a populist? Yes or no?

Can someone explain to me why everyone is reviving these goofy regional parties (that have zero organization and that no one cared about until now) just to stand in the NPC elections? Is there some benefit that I'm unaware of?

I do consider myself a populist.

The official platform for DA is not yet finalized, so I will be proposing more platform planks similar to the ones in the Populist Party Platform Sections 2-4:

* Raising minimum wage
* Reforming public education
* Reducing taxes on lower and middle class
* And focus on urban, suburban, and rural areas, the last of which is usually forgotten

Also, the initial platform proposal includes a big focus on preventing job outsourcing and the importance of regulations to protect the rights and safety of workers.

yeah if Jimmy had just joined the party I could see your point but he's been a member for months. You think he planned this in advance or something?

He wasn't an active member, but it puts things in perspective when I realize i was no longer a member while in fact i thought i was. And Jimmy says the populist party is more in line with DA. I'm not sure it is, but we will see. I still think it was a better idea to ditch this party and start a new regional party, but after some clarification, i now understand, and i look forward to cooperate and work together in the future. I'll apologize for my initial reaction, but it's partly my mistake that i no longer was a member of that party and therefore my point was invalid.

I wish the DA good luck in the upcoming elections, and hopefully the Greens and the DA can be decent partners in the future, depending on the party platform.
