I don't know why people thought that Trump would "grow up" after being elected President.

Most of these people read like those who'll either come around on Trump in the end or who will just vote third-party. Only a couple really seemed like Ridin' or Dyin' with Biden types.

It's about time we get an article like this instead of the 1,000th iteration of "We visited a diner in small-town Ohio and Trump's supporters are sticking with him"

Of course most of a president's supporters are sticking with him. That's not news, it's the case with basically every president. The important thing to study is supporters the president has lost.

Coronavirus also changed the mind of Ariel Oakley, 29, who works in human resources in Grand Rapids, Mich. “With coronavirus, even just watching the press conferences, having him come out and say it’s all fake,” she said. “I have family who have unfortunately passed away from it.”

It made her wonder how often he hadn’t told the truth before, she said. She plans to vote for Mr. Biden.

Where to begin?

Then came the killing of Mr. Floyd. Mr. Pittman felt the president didn’t take it seriously: “It was kind of the last straw. It was like, this dude is just in it for himself. I thought he was supposed to be for the people.”

I'm glad these people are coming around but I am baffled as to how it JUST NOW occurred to them that Trump is a liar and a narcissist.

Yes, the misguided fools who voted Trump in 2016 and realize their mistake now will be important in November. But more important will be people who voted Obama 2012 and didn't vote in 2016, 2016's third-party voters, and left-leaning people who sat out 2016. There's a lot more of these people than the few dozen Trump voters who will back Biden this year.

I think more than a few dozen Obama-Trump voters, at least, will come back. This article is interesting because we even have a guy who said he voted for Trump because he destroy Obamacare now saying he's voting for Biden, along with others who say they have been lifelong Republicans until now.

This part is critical, and I think it's a reflection of the ongoing realignment of college-educated, suburban/urban voters who had traditionally been a part of the Republican coalition, and are now moving to the Democrats. Many of these people were willing to give Trump a "chance" in 2016, and after seeing the disaster that has been his Presidency, have jumped ship. A considerable number made the jump already in 2018, and more are going to follow this year. Biden stands to pick off such voters in places ranging from Johnson County, Kansas to Hamilton County, Indiana, and from Chester County, Pennsylvania to Maricopa County, Arizona.

I think it is wrong to brand these people as "misguided fools." Many of them were Obama voters, and they had a genuine dislike of Hillary Clinton. Trump campaigned on perhaps the most populist platform for a Republican candidate in decades, and seemed like someone who would "shake up the system." The fact that they are recognizing their mistake and shifting to Biden, I think, is a very good thing, and ought to be praised. Anyone and everyone who can contribute to Trump's defeat in November should be welcomed into the coalition.

I think it's possible to welcome them into the fold and think they're fools at the same time.  I might not go shouting that to their faces, but I definitely think they're fools.

Even Republicans are fed up and weary about this spoiled brat presidency.
Many GOP militants are turning against a populist leader.
There's a lesson: don't trust populists. They only propose ephemeral dreams.
