Almost without a doubt the economy, probably with a focus on recovery from the collapse of the past few months.

Economy/jobs or covid-19, no doubt. 90% of people won't be thinking about anything else.

COVID-19/economy

They're essentially the same issue right now, with only a difference in emphasis.

Basically these two combined. Healthcare, Jobs, and Covid are all very closely linked right now.

I think they will "cite" the economy as their #1 issue with "covid" a close second.  But really it's "restoring normalcy" and a steady hand in leadership.  People who are tuned out of politics are sick of one controversy after another.

This.

Ironically, as someone who opposes this president with every fiber of my being, I don't see either of these being his fault. His reaction to crisis is abominable, but that assumption is baked in at this point.

Voters blame the President when gas prices go up. If the economy is bad, the incumbent is hurt. If it's good, he benefits.

Missing choice: Leadership, character, and trustworthiness. I think a lot of independents see him as devoid of the qualities of a leader, especially when the country needed one the most.

George W Bush, for all his faults, would have handled the past several months with grace and certainty. Trump's flailing. He has no idea what he's doing.

Economy. Covid is dying out. Cases are dramatically decreased in the last few weeks and a Dr. in Italy and Israel says the virus loses its strength after 8-10 weeks. Economy is going to rebound faster than people think in many states. NY, CA will take longer.

This independent - moi - still cares more about the Supreme Court and how it interprets the 14th Amendment more than anything else. I'm pretty unique in that regard, I know.

My totally-not-a-lawyer-and-veering-way-out-of-my-lane hot take:

The 14th Amendment shouldn't be necessary, as equality under the law ought to be a principle established in Common Law. Of course, many of the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights also have roots in Common Law.

Yeah except the sociopaths McConnell is pushing through don't respect common law and find ways to get around actual codified laws making constitutional amendments necessary.
