I don't support this, and I think that 7 member Councils can be acceptable, so I'll propose the following amendment

Quote
Fixed Council Amendment

To fix the Council size at the most stable and unencumbering five-member arrangement

1. Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution of Lincoln is amended as follows:
Quote
3. In all general elections for the Council, the number of councilors to be elected shall be five. as follows:
a) In cases where there are 5 candidates on the ballot or less (excluding write-ins), the number of Councillors elected shall be 3 the same as the number of candidates on the ballot
b) In cases where there are between 6 and 8 7 candidates on the ballot (excluding write-ins), the number of Councillors elected shall be 5
c) In cases where there are 9 8 or more candidates on the ballot (excluding write ins), the number of Councillors elected shall be 7

Sponsor feedback: Hostile

24 hours to object to this amendment, and 24 hours for the sponsor to provide feedback (assumed hostile, if no feedback is provided)

The amendment is hostile. It does not differ markedly from the original wording in the constitution and goes against the intent of L.C. 7.5 which is to simplify the arrangement of the Council by setting the number of seats firmly at five.

I oppose this amendment, for a variety of reasons. I think either we should go with a strict five or keep the current system

If there are no further objections to this, then I motion for a final vote.

24 hours to object to the motion, I won't object, but I will oppose this and vote against it, if it goes to referendum.

EDIT: After looking at the Wiki, I will vote AYE on this to send it to referendum, but will vote NAY in the actual referendum
