What wild times we live in! A Republican president that is such a shameless hack that even Fox News isn't partisan enough for him.
....you guys literally have three networks and regularly call for Fox to be taken off air.

Honestly, I wish all networks would just get rid of these bloviating hacks and stick to actual news. Having people like Sean Hannity delivering "news" to people is a joke. You and I both know his entire goal is to push an agenda, and he could care less about whether or not he is misleading people or flat out lying. It wasn't that long ago that he waged war against the idea of COVID-19 being anything to worry about, and then did an about-face weeks later, literally making it a point to say "always taken the coronavirus seriously." It's not even just about lying, either. It's about what they choose to report. Fox News is very blatant about not reporting on issues that damage Trump politically. Sure, they do some coverage, and occasionally you'll have someone like Chris Wallace even state the facts. But most of the time, they either avoid it entirely (even when the rest of the country is laser focused on it) or they air some segment that is structured in a way that defends Trump (or Republicans in general). This has become a running joke among Democrats. Whenever a myriad Trump scandals were being discussed by just about everyone else, Fox News would have the most glaringly boring programs on, like "Tips for going to the beach with Jesse Watters," or something equally silly.

Why exactly would conservatives want to watch this anyway? To make them feel good about their political choices? This kind of misleading crap is why I don't watch any cable news at all, save for times when I don't really have a choice, like when my mom puts it on during dinner. I guess it might be fair to say that Fox almost has to do it this way or else conservatives would just stop watching, so in a way their audience is enforcing their own delusions, but either way, they aren't doing themselves any favors. And yes, I'm sure MSNBC / CNN does this too, but I know more about Fox because I almost never watch MSNBC and definitely watch more Fox clips if only to gasp at how braindead some of these people are. But I've seen enough of both to know that they are not equal. Hillary Clinton would have coasted by much more easily if the "leftist news" had operated the same way towards Democrats that Fox News does towards Republicans. But unfortunately we don't have that kind of connection with the corporate media.

At any rate, if OANN is supposed to be the "alternative," America is just going to get dumber. I mean, even aside from the extreme bias and partisanship of that "network," the hosts of their programs are incredibly amateurish to the point of it being cringeworthy to watch. But I suppose that is the point. I think we all should be able to agree that Donald Trump only wants an alternative because he wants news networks to act more like an arm of his reelection campaign rather than outlets that report the news.

Jon Stewart put it very well, Virginia. Fox News- - for people who don't really care about news.

It's very much a measure, even if not conscious, to insulate oneself from nasty opinions they don't agree with , and having their own preconceived notions reinforced on a consistent basis as opposed to being confronted with information and facts that might challenge their thinking. It's frankly the primary basis of true Trump derangement syndrome where anything and everything he does for says can be paper over no matter how awful or incompetent, because he has a full-time major News Network dedicated solely to making excuses for him and deflecting blame. Though he's apparently so bad that even Fox can't carry his water enough anymore.

I'll give this to conservatives on this forum. They actively deal with opposing liberal and even more left-leaning positions on a daily basis. I may disagree with them, and in some cases even question their sanity Tongue, but they can't ever be accused of living in a bubble.

I don’t think the guy who accuses his Democratic Governor of committing a genocide is a Democratic hack. I may be an authoritarian, a wannabe commie, a hypochondriac, a reactionary maniac, a troll, a fake moderate, an alarmist, a hypocrite, but I am not a partisan hack.

I do think not only Fox needs an alternative but CNN as well. MSNBC fills its niche pretty well, but nobody wants a centrist Enquierer 24/7 As their only alternative to Dem and GOP footsoldiers.

Do you seriously just believe a bunch of media outlets owned by large corporate conglomerates whose interests are threatened by trade regulations and restrictions on allowing illegals into the labor pool actually treat Trump fairly?
This is flawed logic if you take it far enough.

YES, they are biased against Trump. BUT, if Trump DOES f___ up, them.reporting it is not "biased", it's just "CNN reporting the news". If Trump goes out tonight and gets caught doing blow with hookers, would CNN be biased to report it? Of course not. If he tries to blame governors for his mistakes, is it biased if they report it? Of course not.

You shouldn't assume everything on the news that makes Trump look bas is a smear. Sometimes, it's just the news. You can either accept that ir be a snowflake about it.

Also lol @ the claim that somehow being a large corporate conglomerate would somehow be anti Trump for that reason. Large corporations aren't interested in whole scale deregulation and slashing upper income and corporate tax rates. No no no! Wise Paleo conservatives like Sanchez know that their real primary interest is passing the DREAM Act and opposing Farm tariffs. Roll Eyes

Folks like him can't seem to decide whether or not Democrats are radical anti-free free-market socialists, or Stooges to big business.

They already exist. He has the pick of the litter: Newsmax, One America News, The Blaze, etc.

I love how Glenn Beck grew what appeared to be something resembling a spine for a little while during the 2016 election but then bent over backwards to kiss Trump's ring as soon as even the flimsiest excuse presented itself.

It only makes sense. He was a bit of a precursor to Trump and helped pave the way for him.

The irony here, of course, is that a Donald Trump Presidency would not be possible without FOX News.

What separates FOX from being merely conservative or even shamelessly partisan Republican is that there's a strong emphasis on entertainment. FOX News comes out of the marriage of right-wing talk radio with the Cable TV News format. It's deliberately lowest-common-denominator TV: racism and general sensationalism presented to you by attractive blonde women and proud meatheads like Sean Hannity (whom, not coincidentally, got his start in talk radio).

Lowest-common-denominator, vulgar, sensationalist TV mixed with punching-down insult comedy - which President embodies that? That question answers itself.

The schadenfreude of seeing Frankenstein bullied by his monster is in and of itself entertaining.

Good analysis, but for me it's too depressing to be entertaining in any fashion.

They already exist, CNN's almost interchangeable anyway, and MSNBC is little better.
