https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/21/trump-immigration-green-card-coronavirus-198498

Quote
Trump announced that he will sign an executive order blocking most people for 60 days from receiving a permanent residency visa, or green card. But the order will still allow the government to continue processing visas for hundreds of thousands of temporary employees, including farm workers, landscapers and crab pickers — the largest source of immigration.

The order is also expected to carve out additional exemptions for so-called essential employees, including health care workers, and immigrants who come into the United States through immediate family members, according to a person familiar with the situation.

Once again the people reading his Twitter feed render themselves less informed than those who read nothing at all. I don't know why anyone even bothers reacting at this point. He has one trick and we have seen it a thousand times.

The only justification for calling this a "ban" is to provoke clownish fawning and outrage alike - over nothing.

Birds and sheep respond in a pack sense to the same daily fear of foxes, and they repeat each others noises together for a sense of feeling safe in a pack. And they fly together and run together through sudden fear of one member who sets off the pack of squarking birds or bleeting sheep.

Given the trauma experienced by Trump being elected in 2016, I think the same phenomenon is occurring here in the forum with the uninformed "out of context" misconstrued one line tweets.

(Trump is the fox)

Someone presents an uninformed "out of context" misconstrued one line tweets about Trump, and the squarking birds are off to the races.

This thread is autistic or at least makes me uncomfortable.  Needless to say, Trump apparently is not going to sign it and was probably lying about it to get attention.

I feel kinda betrayed and lied to by the media here. It seems they sensationalized a Trump order to make it look like he was literally banning most immigration when in practice that was not the case.

People could lie to the media and then it not be the media's fault. If it is the media's fault, they should apologize.

There is no free society where there is no media. If what is happening doesn't matter, what does? If you don't believe the students of the practice, who do you believe?

In a way, the media are like the police, I guess in that we are unable to survive without them but are unable to function properly if we idolize them.

The issue is often with Trump's assumed biases, intentions and/or ulterior motives ... but what's the big deal with the policy itself?  Aren't most European countries effectively doing the same thing?  If you aren't letting your citizens move around freely to stop the spread of a virus, you logically wouldn't allow people to be relocating here right now, haha (with the exceptions named).

I bet you he's a Bernie Bro DEEP undercover trying to destroy the alt-right from the inside out.

If Richard Spencer is a Nazi, I am a Nazi.
Okay 🤷‍♂️

Sorry, I was drunk and reverted to my alt-right persona.

I should also apologize for the Breitbart/Drudge style title for something that turned out to be a bad lie from Trump. (No, I was not drunk when I made the thread) Clearly, all that's happened is a temporary administrative delay in processing green card applications, which is fine and nothing even resembling an immigration ban.

Doesn't it make it even worse? This sounds like it's a way of slowing down legal immigration for people here as opposed to slowing down people actually traveling here from other countries. Huh

Besides, you can't blame yourself. Heck Trump himself made it sound like this is exactly what he was doing. And he knew that when he tweeted.

Considering the country is shut down, and a green card is forever, I'm willing to accept at face value the legitimacy of delaying green card applications for 60 days. International travel is currently largely shut down right now anyway, and this change does not affect the vast majority of people's lives, and the only thing it really does is prevent someone from receiving approval for green card and then arriving to the US during the coronavirus crisis.

Maybe yes, maybe no. If that's the case, maybe, okay, possibly. However, empirical experience has demonstrated the two overriding modus operandi of the Trump Administration is first, no decision whatsoever is based on facts or coherent plan of action, and second, keep out the Browns. Until this is further explained as to exactly what this will entail, there is a reasonable assumption to make that this has little to no impact on people actually arriving in the country, and is just Aiken Regional excuse of the Trump administration's DieHard mission of maintaining the white proportion of America's population as high as possible.

Demonstrate otherwise and I might change my mind. But Trump derangement syndrome doesn't involve fundamentally distrusting Trump's motives and actions based on four years of combined incompetence and racism, it's assuming that any action involving immigration from this Administration has a legitimate purpose.
