Why did he fail as a governor??? The bridge thing was horrible as was the beach thing but he did a bunch of other bad things.

Bridgegate was what really ended his political career. If not for that, he would've might've been elected President in 2016.

If not for Bridgegate, I think he would have been the first choice of donors rather than Jeb! And Christie had actually won a recent election, in a blue state no less, without going full RINO. He has Trump's brash, in-your-face personality, but without the insanity. Plus he was just coming off a very successful tenure as RGA chair, where Republicans managed to not only reelect most of their vulnerable incumbents, but flipped Illinois, Massachusetts and Maryland. That earned him a lot of goodwill.
