Where are they now Smiley

Charles Kennedy was really an SDP man running the Lib Dems. In many ways they never left us.

This is obviously a great day for Freedom.

The Social Democratic Party were obviously a party of government that we never had. The leadership of David Owen is quite literally an inspiration to me, even today. He was and remains a great man.

My aunt was a Social Democratic activist, and being a staunch Owenite, she actively opposed the merger. Like her, I believe that the Liberal Democrats were nothing more than a corruption of the Social Democrats. There can be no greater satisfaction than the Richmond by-election, where the SDP defeated that imitation.

As far as I am concerned the party died in 1990 when Owen wound the party up, though I salute the continuing fight for Freedom of Rosie Barnes and John Cartwright in fighting Greenwich and Woolwich.
