What if there was a constitutional amendment allowing people born outside the USA to run for president. These two people are chosen. Who would win? Maps?

Both are unpopular governors and have trouble getting things done with the opposite parties controlling the state legislature. I believe granholm would win. She is a moderate and would likely carry all the kerry states including Ohio, Iowa, West Virginia, and New Mexico.

Granholm would win by default.

As a poster put it earlier, "No American would want a European fag to be thier president".

I actually disagree.  Granholm may unpopular, but Schwarzenegger's approfval ratings are approaching hated.  Plus, he is much more foreign than Granholm.  I think it would be close, though.

Schwarzenegger wins easy. On the national level...to the average voter..."Schwarzenegger" is much better know than "Granholm". People who would hear it on television would see Arnold, a familar face...and be like "Who the hell is Jennifer Granholm?"

Arnold Schwarzenegger landslide. He may be unpopular in California...but he would be very popular nationwide. Everybody knows who he is, and of he got elected in California...he can get elected nationwide.

Schwarzenegger: 379
Granholm: 159

Sorry, but in this case name recognition would really be a good thing.

OK, a number of base logical issues here.

Do you seriously believe that name recognition has ever been an issue in a presidential campaign?  It may offer an early boost, but it's a race for POTUS.  Everyone will know who Granholm is.

He was elected in California when he was much, much, much more popular in the state.  Things have changed.

You claim that he is unpopular in the state, and then give him it in your map?

He got elected in California because he's an actor from Hollywood, and even then he won with less than 50% of the vote.

He currently is something like the third least approved of governor in America, and has a much higher disapproval than Granholm does.

I don't think it'd be as much of a blowout as you say.  Did anyone outside Massachusetts know who John Kerry was before the primaries?  No, but they sure knew who he was after the presidential campaign.

You seem to be acting as if there'd be no campaign whatsoever, and they just jump straight to the election.
