Visit a psychologist, keep your guns. Simple as that. Millions and millions of Atlasians have mental health conditions, but these conditions are treatable and people who seek treatment should be rewarded for having the courage to get help, not stripped of their constitutional rights.

My fellow colleague MB is right on point with this: "visit a psychologist, keep your guns." I urge this bill to be passed.

Happy to see the support for this. I know Obama's Disability Adviser was very critical of how his administration stigmatized persons seeking treatment or opting to have a designated payee to assist with benefits. Thankfully we protected the latter in the Let's Try This Act. Hopefully we can pass this too. Treatment is important and we should not penalize people merely for seeking help.

People talk all the time about how gun violence is a mental health issue. In this case, seeking mental health treatment should be looked at as preventative care. In many cases, seeking treatment can save lives, and it should be encouraged. If someone is taking all necessary steps to avoid issues and keep their mental health in check, we shouldn't be punishing them by restricting their rights. We should be applauding them for recognizing that they need help and seeking it.

This bill has my full support.

Aye, obviously we shouldn't punish people by taking away their gun rights for merely seeking treatment.

This bill will be removed from the senate queue. The version that passed the first time is still in the queue.
