Do you believe the Russians will attempt an invasion of the US homeland within the next decade or so, Red Dawn style?

I think they will and this is why not taking a hard line against the Russians in Ukraine and Syria is a dangerous idea, because what happens over there matters over here, just like with the terrorists after 9/11. If we hadn't brought the fight to Al-Qaeda they would have brought the fight to us again and again.

Yeah and I’m gonna like successfully escape school when they randomly begin killing my classmates and will shriek the lyrics to America the Beautiful when I’m captured and executed.

The only way the US homeland will be directly attacked this century by a foreign government (outside of cyberattacks) is if there is a civil war or an intercontinental nuclear war. Which, given the stupidity of people, I wouldn't rule out. But a land invasion of the homeland is extremely unlikely.

Don't worry, they will invade France first, I will be killed before you.

Idiocy. We have more, then enough, things to do in our own country. Invasions can wait... [/sarcasm]

No. USSR isn’t going to invade the United States anytime soon and the OP lives in a fantasy land.

I think Putin is more content to sow chaos and wreck our alliances through his useful idiot in the White House.  I am actually more concerned about China considering a Pearl Harbor-style attack (and this time succeed where the imperial Japanese navy failed) to destroy our Pacific fleet and our means to rebuild it in their quest to once again dominate Asia and the surrounding seas as they did during the imperial period.  I am not sure how Russia feels about being the junior partner in such a relationship, but the two combined with Iran will dominate all of Eurasia with the notable exception of India which would likely once again adopt a stance of official neutrality as it did through the entirety of the Cold War, but maintaining close ties with all three of the major autocratic powers.

Why would Putin want to invade a vassal state?
