The longest period in which the leaders of the four biggest western economies were the same took place between October 1982, when Kohl replaced Schmidt, and January 1989, when Bush replaced Reagan. During 6 years and 3 months, the leaders of the four biggest western economies were unchanged: Reagan, Kohl, Thatcher and Mitterrand.

The second longest period took place between January 2001, when W Bush replaced Clinton, and December 2005, when Merkel replaced Schröder. During almost 5 years, the leaders of the four biggest western economies were W Bush, Schröder, Blair and Chirac.

The period Nixon, Brandt, Heath and Pompidou was also long (1970-1974). The period Carter, Schmidt, Callaghan and d'Estaing also took some time (1977-1979).

Usually, a period in which the leaders of the 4 biggest western economies are the same takes no more than 2 years.
