We haven’t even had the first debates yet, these polls are meaningless. Just wait for the other candidates to actually start going after Biden on a debate stage or in ads and stump speeches — that’s when the real race will begin.

These polls are definitely not meaningless. Significant leads in early primary polls have historically been correlated with later success in primary elections. Biden is not a sure thing, but it is his race to lose, and dismissing his lead completely is foolish.

This is a poll I'm very, very skeptical of. I can definitely picture Biden being in the #1 spot, but at 44% when Bernie is only at 14%?

Brought to you by Mark Penn btw. lol.

The sample that includes Clinton seems more realistic weirdly enough.

Crosstabs here:

https://harvardharrispoll.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/HHP_April2019_RV_crosstab.pdf

The age gap is pretty large.  In the sample without Clinton…
age 18-34:
Biden 32%
Sanders 24%
O’Rourke 10%

age 65+:
Biden 70%
Sanders 6%
Klobuchar 5%

Biden is also at 54% among voters living in rural areas, while Sanders is at 5% and in 5th place with rural voters.  Sanders’s strength is youngs who live in urban and suburban areas.

fav/unfav % among Dems:
Biden 80/13% for +67%
Sanders 79/16% for +63%
Warren 62/19% for +43%
Clinton 68/27% for +41%
Harris 55/15% for +40%
O’Rourke 51/13% for +38%
Buttigieg 41/10% for +31%

fav/unfav % among all voters:
Biden 52/38% for +14%
Sanders 49/41% for +8%
Buttigieg 26/23% for +3%
O’Rourke 32/30% for +2%
Harris 34/33% for +1%
Warren 36/41% for -5%
Pence 39/46% for -7%
Trump 42/54% for -12%
Clinton 37/58% for -21%

The comments in this forum are the literal definition of white privilege.

Unfortunately my "white privilege" was not enough to stop a network of thugs from stealing me, my mom's, and even my late father's legal identities, as well as everything we had to our name, so that we're forced to live on government assistance.  Pity.

I swear to God I want to kick someone in the throat every time I hear that phrase now.

I am going to let you in on a little secret. None of these candidates are going to bring "radical" change.

Pretty much. Even if we get a Democrat elected in 2020, whoever they may be, and a Democratic majority in the Senate, the fact of the matter is that this country will still be too polarized for anything "radical" to be able to get passed. The 46th President is going to mostly end up just focusing on cleaning up whatever messes Trump leaves behind. And what's worse is that the Democratic President, in not being able to accomplish much in their first two years to satiate the high expectations of Democratic voters. This will cause Democratic voters to become complacent and cynical again as the GOP wins with a vengeance in the 2022 midterms, and make accomplishing anything even more difficult than before. This is a cycle that is guaranteed to happen again, just as it did for Obama. However, it's still preferable to four more years of Trump.

Using the word thugs to describe criminals is racist. Correct the racism you have demonstrated in this thread or be sent for immediate re-education.

Yeah, progressives have yet to figure out that it is congress that changes things when it comes to domestic policy, not the presidency.

LOL. Guess the majority of Democratic voters are not on Twitter or political websites (shocked).

Lots of people are saying this and "can't believe people are SURPRISED by these polls!".

No one thought Biden wouldn't be popular. We just don't like him.

Not wanting Biden to be the nominee is white privilege? I definitely agree with calling out racial blind spots on this forum but this ain’t that.

It is not about wanting Biden. It is about saying you are going to sit out if your prefer candidate doesn't win.

I've never seen so many people determined to shoot a gift horse. Uncle Joe is going to beat Trump like a drum unless the Dems do something stupid.

You can't play either the race or gender card this time (that's the best part of my non-vote for Biden!).  I am not "privileged" in any sense of the word right now.  Biden is, and he gave a $200,000 speech for a Republican congressman last year.  He campaigned on his conscience and that's fine.  So why is it wrong for other people to vote on theirs?

I'll literally vote for Harris against Trump if that's what it comes to, dude.  My opposition to Biden is strictly against Biden, not "sitting out" because my preferred candidate didn't win.  There are 20 other qualified candidates running this cycle who are better than Joe Biden.

Yeah when hadn't declared yet and hadn't formed his cult either. I remember she was losing to Rubio in states like MN early on.

Outlier? Biden is certainly ahead, but not by 30 points.

Agree, I don't think Biden is in the 40s. Need to see more polls to see if he has really into got into those numbers. He is probably still in the mid-30s.
