With the successful and unanimous support of both houses of Congress the budget is finally in place right before the deadline of the last CR, and thus Atlasia has averted a shutdown. My congratulations to the DPC, the House, Senate and others for their hard work!

That excellent end result - including a now smaller deficit -  to this situation aside and speaking strictly as a private citizen I do hope the complications that we've seen in the two post-reset budgets will help us to realize it may well be necessary to further formalize the budget process and thus face much less ambiguity when it comes to it.

I see an amount of gas tax revenue but not the rate.  What is it?

I would caution everyone that while I am delighted that we are here and this passed, this was indeed FY2019, which expires September 30th.

If we want to avoid a repeat of us being in the same boat again, we have to get on track and on process to have full FY2020 budget in place before September 30th. That means we should start work on the FY2020 budget in the very near future. That way have plenty of time for both Houses to weigh in and for proposals from all sides to be brought forward for the sake of how to further reduce and eliminate the budget deficit, and still have time to reach a deal and pass a budge by the end of the September.
