Probably Boise. Large enough not to be in the middle of nowhere, and still rural enough and small enough not to get the disadvantages of a large city. Plus I imagine Idaho is quite beautiful?

I like Philly.  Boise is mostly new, generic, car-centric suburban sprawl of the worst kind.

Agreed. In Pennsylvania I'd probably rather live in Pittsburgh than in Philadelphia.

Absolutely. Size matters. While Philly is too far east, I would never live in a metro area with fewer than four million people.
