If Bentsen was the Dem nominee in 1988 could he have won OK?

Let's pretend Lloyd Bentsen was at the top of the ticket in 1988 instead of Dukakis. I read that in 1988 the oil crisis had hit OK (and LA) particularly hard and Dukakis had originally tried to target the state to no avail. Could Bentsen, a southerner from a neighboring state have won OK?
