Sure, there was McGovern, but there didn't seem to be that same loyalty toward the Dems that existed in places with similar demographics (particularly Minnesota). Why so? You'd think a bunch of states that were just as Lutheran-inspired and adjacent to more progressive states.   would be more receptive to the populist Dems that existed in the past. They even voted for Taft (prolly the worst fit for the region) v. Bryan in 1908.

Dust bowl solified the Mnt West into a GOP stronghold. However, during the Civil War, the Dakatos strongly backed the Union, as well.  They have a long GOP history, but the Dust Bowl during FDR administration solidified it.

Heitkamps seat was democrat since 1956.
ND elected all 3 represantives to congress for 24 years.

ND elected all 3 represantives to congress for 24 years.
