I doubt that demographic voted for Trump or Gillespie.

I doubt that demographic voted for Trump or Gillespie.

But it makes the most sense to me. Kaine won counties (i.e. Stafford, Chesterfield) that Northam lost last year, and his margin of victory (16% vs 9%) and overall percentage (57% vs 53%) were both higher. There had to have been at least some Trump/Gillepsie voters who went for Kaine, to account for those gains. Some of it, I'm sure, was also new or first-time voters.
