We all agree that the sequel was horrible, but what about the first episode?

Turning point where Americans had to fight in the Arab Region and wars became Quagmires and wars of containment. Thinking about going to military up until 2001

Freedom war, and should have done something to stop Saddam from being able to kill 100,000+ Kurds later.

Freedom War. We defended Kuwait's sovereignty with minimal causalities.

The war was justified on its own merits but there is a large level of hypocrisy involved. Many other countries have been invaded before and after the Gulf War but all of a sudden we care so much about the integrity of international borders when an oil rich state is invaded?

Basically, I think the war was justified but it wasn't a benevolent war based on the principle that you can't just invade other countries.

How the aftermath of the war was handled was also dreadful. False hope was given to anti-government rebels who proceeded to get slaughtered viscously. Not to mention the ridiculously high number of deaths (100s of thousands) caused by the sanctions.

Overall, horrible war.
