There is a 50-50 chance of either. I can't say for sure one way or another, this early on.

They need to pick a woman after #MeToo, and I think they will.

I'd say the chances are 50/50. I think Kamala Harris is the one with the greatest individual chance to win the nomination, but that doesn't say anything.

However, I'm 80% sure that the 2020 Democratic ticket will be split in gender, one man and one woman. An all male or all female ticket seems unlikely, though the latter is even a bit less likely.

If they pick another corporatist/establishment candidate (e.g. a Hillary clone), then I would be depressed.

It'll definitely be one man one woman IMO. And even if it's two men or two women, one will be a minority (Booker or Harris.) It won't be two white men/women.

About 50% for either.  Chance of female goes up if Biden and Sanders stay out.

FYI: A certain political commentator would call the selection of a particular candidate solely or primarily on the basis of this candidate's femininity "McFeminism."

Yes, because that's the perfect strategy to help with the WWC. Squinting

A male nominee would probably pick a female running mate, but he won’t say that he’s picking someone because she’s a woman.

If Biden and Bernie sit 2020 out, it will almost certainly be a woman, because all of the other top tier candidates are women (Harris, Gillibrand, Warren, Klobuchar). Booker and Brown are really the only remotely plausible other options, but I think the aforementioned women would beat Booker and Brown easily.

Virtually any woman with a serious chance of winning will easily be branded an establishment figure, even where similar men would not be. Women have to work harder to get this far, which means keeping their heads down and quietly making connections. I resent that this positive attribute has become a negative, but hey... that's where we're at. Connections = bad. Roll Eyes

Warren, Harris, Gillibrand, Klobuchar... all of them. They'll be "establishment." And if there's someone who can't reasonably have that monicker hoisted upon them, it's because they're super radical or came out of nowhere, and in that case they'll be "crazy" or "wacky." Point is, there's not a successful formula here, and any woman will be at a disadvantage. I think they'd make fantastic presidents though, and Trump might be weak enough for any of them to succeed... So I'm on board. But I think it's clear 2016  showed women seeking the presidency still face a lot of crap. Many voters aren't ready, even though they might insist otherwise.

If Biden runs, male. If not, female.
