Can you make the ignore feature work on mods? There is one mod in particular that I would like to ignore.

I think you should be able to ignore Moderators on all but boards they moderate. Ignoring their posts on boards they moderate makes it difficult to communicate when that is necessary, such as a warning a mod may post in a thread that is getting out of hand. The only people who can't be ignored at all are Dave, Nym90, muon2 and myself.

I have a question. Isn't it possible that at some point the ignore feature is updated so that you don't see the user at all? Even if you put them on the ignore list, their post still appears, with the tag "This user is currently ignored."

That was already done in the first update:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?action=profile;sa=atlasmod

"Hide posts by ignored users more thoroughly"

All that does is remove the post entirely instead of allowing you to expand it by clicking the show button. I assume that's what you mean. This quote redaction was meant to finish off what I started earlier this year.

This is exactly what I mean. I did not know that this update was made. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Can we expand the limit on number of ignored users?

Or make it easier to clean-up your ignore list in regards to users who have been banned?

I maybe be able to add a tool that lets you remove users who haven't been active in, say, 12 months, but I can't implement a screen for banned users. Or rather, I can do that, but it would in effect create a tool to determine if someone is banned, and I'd need to run that by the other Moderators to see if that is acceptable.

But as for enlarging the size of the ignore list - I looked into that for the first update and I was unable to determine why Atlas' ignore list is capped but my test forum's wasn't. I think Dave actually capped it himself, or perhaps he was using a different version that had some issue that my version doesn't.

Either way, I don't know how to fix it without having the source files of Dave's smf installation (and the members table structure from the database), which I'm not sure if he'd share with me.

I've never put anyone on ignore, except by accident when I posted using my smartphone.

Frankly, I don't think much of the idea of putting people on "ignore"; it's a kind of lame thing to do.  Besides, I want to know what folks who don't think well of me are saying, lest they slander me online.

I wish I was like this, but there are just some people on this forum who I can't stand. It is better to ignore what they say then to get into a heated confrontation that will benefit no one.

Thank you, Virginia, I appreciate the follow-up regarding the ignore list. I've messaged Dave directly about it in the past, but he has never responded.

I also want to acknowledge that, for me, the forum had become unreadable without your improved ignore feature. If not for the changes that you made to it months ago, I'm not sure that I would be here. There's just too much noise to wade through, and the ignore feature is a welcome alternative to achieving that without overzealous moderation.

As this year's US elections approach, I expect that many more of us will wish that we had more room on those lists. Please keep this in mind!

Speaking of readability, when I was making my todo list, I was thinking about something you said a long time ago about the color scheme of the forum and (i think) how you like it darker because it is easier on the eyes toread, and I had an idea that maybe I can get Dave to give users the option of choosing a somewhat darker color scheme. Same design, just different colors. I'm still looking into how I can do that with minimal work, but I might make a thread on it maybe next month to collect feedback.
