Could he beat Daines? He's basically the Dems second best bet assuming Bullock runs for President.

Possibly, but he's also been out of office for 8 years in a red state, and retreads tend to go badly. He should run for governor in 2020 instead imo.

He very well could, but retreads don't have the best record.

Granted the problem with retreads is that their profile generally isn't high enough anymore to win, but that's not always the case (as you can see from that tweet up there, a majority of former Governors still won). Perhaps some Montana posters could enlighten us as to whether Schweitzer has kept his profile high?

Not going to work. Bullock could make it happen.

Bullock would be a far better option.

I think he kept his profile relatively high until early 2016. Anyway I want to see him run for something coz he is a HP Hillarious Person. He called DIFI a prostitute lol.

Wasn't the rumor back in 2014 that he declined to run because Republicans insinuated they had dirt on him?

Pretty much any competent Democrat "could" beat Daines, but Schweitzer definitely isn’t going to run. Not sure why this needs to be said every two years.

He'd have a much better chance than Bayh, Bredesen, or Strickland, but that's not saying much.  I say no.

He doesn't have the same baggage that Bayh/Bredesen/Strickland had (became a swamp creature/had his state veer hard to the right/got really old) but he'd still be the underdog. Lean R (but closer to Likely) with him as nominee, Toss Up with Bullock imo
