This bill reduces the length of copyrights, which have been extended too long imo. It also subjects the copyright to renewal after 40 yrs to maintain it.

Special thanks the former Rep. Illiniwek for assisting with ideas.

This bill seems alright overall, I'll back it.

No objections on my behalf since it covers the author's life and further beyond for some time. I do think there's a grammar issue with "for the life author", so I'd recommend that the PPT corrects that.

So noted and corrected. Thanks.

This seems like a good idea to prevent what Disney, for example, has done, but at the same time this would put US copyright way lower than any other country. Most European countries have it at life plus seventy (which is what we currently have). But elsewhere, it is often life plus fifty.

Of course, I'll still vote for this bill. Life plus seventy is way too long for a copyright, essentially preventing any other person in the generation that first experiences a work from doing anything with it.

A final vote is now open. 72 hours or 24 hours after this gets enough votes to pass or fail, whichever is soonest.
