Why not just eliminate all age limits. Let 2 year olds vote too! Toddlers in DC couldnt do any worse at electing people than the "adults" in DC currently.
that's what I was going to say....who cares?  DC voters are obviously morons, how could stupid 16 year old's do any worse than the idiotic adults that vote there normally?

Why all this hate for the DC electorate?

a bit of their voting history and a bit hyperbole on my part.  To be fair to them, voters are generally dumb.

Considering the human body isn't considered fully developed until age 25 (especially for males, given females mature faster on average), I think teens should be grateful that 18 is the minimum age and not the original 21.

That's a terrible idea. It's hard enough getting 18 year old's to vote, the voter participation rate of 16 year old's would probably be less than 10%. Most 16 year old's don't care about politics and don't have any interest in voting. I certainly wasn't knowledgeable enough about politics at 16 to make a voting decision. Also most teenagers are still immature at that point in life. I realize that we have young posters on here that are knowledgeable about politics, but they are in the minority.

I think the maximum age should be 61 which would make my life easier, I wouldn't have to endure the torture of following the news.

He really isn't. He's a Gen Xer in millennial clothing. He wants to be about 10-15 years older than he is, not 30.

Most people my age I know are smarter and more passionate about their political beliefs than most people of voting age, so...

Honestly, having a voting age is a terrible idea. The fundamental conceit behind it is that only people who are older than that age are mature and knowledgeable to make reasonable decisions. The problem is that age is a terrible proxy for that, and the majority of adults are fundamentally uninformed voters. If we want to actually select for the ability to make informed decisions, we should just give a citizenship test to anyone who wants to vote. The current system is overly simplistic and filled with both false positives (adults who shouldn't be able to vote), and false negatives (teenagers who should).
