Supporting everything but the high capacity magazine ban and raising the gun age, although open to the former if it turns out to be successful, with no gun black market.

More importantly, this could be a sign that pro-gun states are now more open to gun control than in the past. This is a state where a GOP congressmen literally got blown out 28 years ago since he decided it would be a fun idea that support an AWB.

Interesting considering the VT Dems are one of the more gun friendly state parties or have been too timid to deal with guns. Other state parties that have held back on guns are the WA/OR Dems, the gun laws are pretty lax despite being completely blue.

Tougher background checks and a higher minimum age for buying firearms are hardly gun control IMO.

Vermont has a high suicide rate, ranked in the top twenty of the nation. 14.3 per the population, many Vermont citizens  decided to take their toll by purchasing a gun, easier to commit suicides then other methods.

Vermont (and Washington State) are the two states with the easiest to acquire concealed carry permits, to the point that many states refuse to recognize them. Curious if they intend to tweak that, too.

I don't get the high capacity ban, can't people just reload quickly?

That's 5 seconds for someone to take control of the situation.

Hopefully Scott vetoes and tells them to send him a bill without a magazine ban.

I don't understand why citizens need high-capacity magazines?

Terrible bill now bigoted whites are going to vote R in the midterms this is going to be a disaster for Bernie Sanders (that's why this bill was passed so the DNC can kick out bernie sanders who they don't like even though bernie sanders is the democrats only chance of winning and not #metoo transgenderism

if they aren't used a lot in crime in Vermont (and they are not), I don't understand why citizens would feel the need to ban them.  Unless they just want to pass some legislation so it feels like they are doing something.....but that's really stupid if you stop and think about it for a second.....especially if you actually want less gun violence.

Well if I lived in Vermont I’d want to commit suicide too.

They don't, libertpaulian is wrong.

Scott is also signing the bill. Major FF, basically ensures him reelection.

but if they are not used in crime in VT (and they are not), this is pointless feel good sh**t that won't actually hurt crime.

Is this what you gun control nuts mean when you say "sensible" gun control?  Pointless BS laws that won't change gun crime, at all?  It's no wonder you can't get anything done nationally.  And you guys let them get away with it? AND take it as a win for your side?  What the hell is wrong with you guys?  I'd be pissed if I was concerned about gun violence in this country and this is what my leaders gave me.

Vermont is one of the areas that gun control is most useless.
This is an urban vs rural issue, its population density is quite low in comparison to other states, and besides Burlington, Rutland, and Montpelier, it lacks major cities.
