Was driving down Broad Street going to class at Temple University when I heard it on the radio.  I heard classes were cancelled while I was sitting in a student lounge and my cell phone had no signal.  The drive back north on Broad then subsequently up Roosevelt Blvd. was quite scary and had unprecedented traffic.

I notice you do this all the time. Aside from a few people, no one knows where Broad Street and the Blvd are and they don't know our neighborhoods.

That's because, like most people from Philadelphia, Philadelphia is all that he thinks there is in life.

In all fairness, you can go to Map-quest, or Microsoft Street and Trips.  I did with some of these references.

Why? I know Flyers likes to discuss local stuff. I do, too. But is it necessary here? Is someone really that interested to look up the blocks where he was? The main thing is that he talks as if people know where these areas are!

Does it really matter? No.

No, it doesn't really matter. It's not hurting anyone but I just want him to realize that while we may understand each other, no one else does. It's just silly to point out. Kind of like me saying "I ate a pretzel on 9/11."

All right, I understand your point, just not exactly why it needed to be raised. Raising it seems as pointless as what you are railing against.

On a mirror thread, Frodo posted this:

I was working at the Association of Diplomatic Studies and Training on the Foreign Service Institute campus (in Arlington, Virginia) not far from the Pentagon when it was hit.  There was a loud boom that reverberated across the campus.  As we prepared to evacuate, I recall seeing a black plume of smoke, hanging like a pall over the Pentagon.

I was probably less than fifteen minutes away from the Pentagon, though I'm not sure.

I went to my mapping program and found out where it was.  I was interested.

I was sleeping. One of my friends called and wanted to talk to me. She told me the situation, and being a bit upset about having to wake up, I said "I don't see why I had to wake up for that." and hung up.
